The Murder of Marta Chmielecka

Northamptonshire Police are investigating a murder in Kettering, England, that occurred on October 15th. Victim Marta Chmielecka was named on October 19th after officers forced entry into a property in Wood Street and recovered the woman's body inside.

Officers also found a 38-year-old man in the property with serious injuries. The man has been hospitalised in a 'serious but stable' condition but is being treated as the main suspect at this time. 

Detective Inspector Pete Long from the Major Crime Team has made a statement to the public, saying: 
"I now want to appeal to anyone who was on Wood Street between 10.30pm and 11pm on Friday, October 15th, to come forward as they may have information that could help us. Even if you think that you saw nothing, if you were in the area at those times, please contact us."

Long also informed the press that enquiries into the 31-year-old victim's tragic death are progressing quickly, assuring the public that "we have been speaking to a lot of people and gathering a lot of evidence to piece together Marta's final movements and the circumstances surrounding her death."

He closed off by saying, "Specially trained officers continue to support her family and I want to reassure them that a large team of detectives are working on this case and doing everything in their power to get Marta justice."

The police are at this time satisfied that this was a contained incident posing no wider risk to members of the public, but have put extra foot patrols in place in the local area.
